Bodegas Atalaya
La Atalaya del Camino Almansa Garnacha Tintorera Blend
Sometimes a wine is just not my style but I recognize when there is obvious appeal to others. That is the case here. Sure, this is a decidedly oaky wine with undeniable alcohol burn—both of which I find unpleasant—but it also has a lush, rich, hedonistically dark berry fruitiness...like, to an unreal level. The smoky-vanilla notes of the oak work well with the fruit, but it’s just all too much. And that 15.5% (read: probably closer to 15.9%) alcohol? Oh yeah—it ain’t hiding.
