First vintage of Vega Sicilia's Rioja. Just released. Needs so much time. Feeling herbal, spicy, oak dominated. Just landed so come back in a few month.

Needed a Rioja to pair with our "enchilado de langosta" from fresh Fla Lobster caught during mini season. Wow the red fruit on this wine. A little tight at first but as it opened it was perfect.

This wine had such clear and transparent red fruit--specifically it had flashes of fresh red plum that were just stunning. With a lighter, finessed structure (at least vis a vis the earlier Cabernet blends...), this wasn't short on anything.

Tight, inky and intense; huge structure. Might be drinking great in a decade but whatever the case seems more like a Ribeira Del Duero than a Rioja.
