Slightly bitter nose reflective of French oak that is in transition from vanilla and wood spice to something more tertiary, with violet and an overall astringency that gives the palate a soapy impression. Not a bad wine, but there’s nothing distinctive and nothing particularly pleasing either. Can’t remember where I bought this wine but I sort of regret it now.

2007 Pricin Private Reserve Tierra de Leon. Cocoa and mint on the nose. Violets, too. Darker and more brooding than what you would expect from the nose. 13.5% alcohol.
