*NOTE* I take full responsibility on this one, absolutely no fault on the winemakers or vineyards.
Backstory: I've been collecting & storing The Phantom since the '05 vintage. It's one of my favorites & I look forward to it's annual release each year.
Maybe it was my cellar, but I should not have waited so long to open this. I totally missed the window of prime time drinking. Flat, tart, subdued spice notes. Body was like water. It's like when you say you're going to take your kid to Disney and then all of a sudden he's 18 and off to college and really doesn't wanna be around his uncool parents. 😭 what's more upsetting? I have vintages '06-11 sitting down there. Guess I got some drinking to do.

I agree as for some reason this was in my cellar and while I love many previous vintages...this one the cork broke off in the bottle (I take responsibility for it) but still just not the flavor one would expect.

Absolutely one of my favorite CA wines. Some variation vintage to vintage as expected, but at $20/bottle it is a go-to buy when you can find it.
