Booker Vineyard
Paso Robles Tempranillo
Perfect wine for #TempranilloDay on 11/8. Dark ruby red and a touch lighter on the edges. Dark and rich nose with notes of cinnamon, baking spices, anise, leather, black currants, tons of purple flowers and dark raspberries. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Dark and voluptuous palate with tons of violets, lavender, plush plums, anise, a touch blue fruit and a little bit of heat. Insanely rich with a long and lingering finish. Drink till 2022.
Made up of 100% Tempranillo from the Booker Vineyard in Paso Robles. First Booker wine for us and we will definitely be back for more. Aged in around 90% new French oak.
$$$ - Purchased from WineBid for $44.95, release price was $60.00 and retail is around $77.00.

As my tastes gradually drift to an old world sensibility, Paso wines are still a guilty pleasure. Purity and richness of fruit (deep dark red in this case), tobacco/leather notes, and a touch of spice. Significant presence of oak/vanilla but not offensively so. Overtone of smoke on a medium finish. Easy to drink alone but also adaptable to a wide range of heartier foods.
