Bosquet des Papes
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
An awesome bottle that @Mark Flesher opened while at Classic. My knowledge of CdP and Rhône Wines is very small, but I’m slowly gaining appreciation.
Drinking very well, but probably 3-5 years out of optimal drinking. A lot of black cherry, black tea, and black pepper on the nose. Didn’t have as much spice than other CdPs, which I appreciated. Fairly soft and red fruit driven. Got better in the glass. One of the better CdPs I’ve had.

Purchased from a private collection we were spinning the roulette wheel with this one. We needn’t have worried about storage conditions as the nose is lively with briny notes of green olive atop dense asphalt. The grainy tannins hint at its Grenache dominance but layers of complexity make for a thought provoking (and enjoyable) glass.
