I actually really enjoyed this wine because of its rustic character. Pipeño is a type of winemaking process more than a specific type of wine, where grapes are still pressed by bare feet in concrete vats by people who have been doing this stuff for a long time. The resulting wines are usually simple, rustic table wines made more often than not from the Pais grape (same as the fashionable Listan Negro) grape from the Canary Islands. The Cab Sauv in this adds some extra structure, but this is still an unpretentious wine with no designs on being anything more than it is. Comfortable in itself, with some dirty strawberry carbonically macerated love in spades. May taste better on a secluded white sand beach in the middle of the Lake District.
