Actually a blend of Cab Sauv, Castelão, Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet. This wine is a very dark purple, almost inky. The nose is also dark, showing blackberry notes alongside savory tobacco, spice and earth, all in a very smokey framework. The palate of this interesting blend is nearly stunning. Tannins have a good grip, but the blue fruit flavors are amazing and the acidity leaves the sipper salivating. It seems bizarre to me that this wine cost less than $10. It drinks like it should cost much more.

Enjoyed this red blend from Portugal quite a bit. Actually got a hint of plum on the end. (Didn’t think I would ever say that…)

NOSE: oak, dark berry jam, a touch of asphalt.
TASTE: as the nose - oaky and jammy, plus some smoke/charcoal which makes it even worse. I do not like it. 79.
