The wine has a concentrated opaque garnet color and the Bouquet has a nice complexity. Red and fruits with leather and earth. The palate is nicely balanced with good weight and depth. The finish is long and the tannins are well integrated. This is a lovely showing and drinking very good! I’d recommend a 1-2 Hour decant to really open up the wine.

Excellent red douro wine. I think we bought this somewhat on a whim while in Portugal a few years ago. The reserva is only made in certain years. This certainly needed the age - it’s still quite primary. Blind you might think a right bank Bordeaux, though the grapes are all Portuguese. Lots of great fruit, balanced earth, excellent length on the finish, just enough acid. Perfect with lamb “persillade” on Easter.

Apr 9th, 2023What a wonderful wine. Full body, delicate, silky, with crystalline texture. Notes of red berries, some sour cherries, hints of chocolate, cigar box, spices. Good to drink now (2018 tasting), but reveals capacity of aging for some 20 years.

Jan 19th, 2018Perhaps a little closed. This certainly was not in a great place. Very subtle fruit and a slightly unpleasant charred finish.
