Very smooth. Hint of smoke, juicy plum, black cherry, and spicy blackberry on the nose. Rich berry, balanced, smooth, full structure. Chateau Belair Premier Grand Cru Classé is spectacularly sited, between Magdelaine and Ausone to the south of St Emilion, 60% on the limestone plateau and 40% on the clay-rich fronsadais molasses slopes, facing south and east. 2006 reveals fine fruit concentration and spiced notes, supported by ripe, firm tannins.
