Really special, still plenty of life, eternal tannins and acidity

Yowzas. I don't know what else to say. Harmony in a bottle.

1966 Cos - Still with fruit flavors left, sediment decanted - aromas and flavors remained bright and present through 2 hr dinner. A beautiful elegant wine in the old Bordeaux style.

Another trip around the sun, another “66 Bordeaux. This time it was the Cos d’Estournel. Clearly the best of the “66 vintage I have tasted over the last several years on my birthday. It started with salami and spice on the nose. Mid palate it morphed into this lovely soft earthy red fruit and finished with leather and spice. No hint of the typical Cos pencil lead. This wine still had depth and character. I was surprised by the richness and depth of color. It started to fade after about 45 minutes but wow, were those minutes an amazing wine experience.

Fill level at its shoulders and still performed well. Very vibrant upon opening with sweet black fruit and earth. Faded with air, showing molasses and mesquite notes of Ruffles bbq chips.

You almost need a sixties sound track when sipping. Nice, earthy smell and taste, like Woodstock.
