Château de la Huste
Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend
Classic Fronsac nose and palate of dark red fruit and graphite with good grippy tannins, if a wee bit overboard with the new oak for my tastes. Still, an excellent value at 10 bucks a half bottle and perfect for the train.

3 people found it helpfulSep 16th, 2014Fruit forward with fresh layers of complexity from the couple of years of age. On the nose: Wet cedar and vanilla, chocolate/cocoa and some fresh bay leaf hanging around. Cherry, raspberry, and cassis on the palette. Balanced sweetness/acid. Long finish with mouth-filling tannins. Give it plenty of time to aerate (it tasted best on day 3 after being vacuum stopped between tastings), and serve it warmer- I liked around 69-70F.

Feb 14th, 2016Pomegranate and slate. Plenty of new oak and chewy tannins. Love the oak backbone. This wine exceeded expectations for the vintage and being as young as it is.

Dec 28th, 2015Good, smooth sophisticated flavor. A little overpriced. Had it with braised lamb. Maybe try with a less powerful meal.
