Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend

This is still in a vegetal state but time has done this well. Reddish brown. Still sitting on some good tannins. Green pepper galore. So interesting.

I was somewhat underwhelmed and while time may be kind to it I do have my doubts that it will move the needle much.

Well located situated between Lafleur and Petrus hence the name. A little bit of history - Pomerol was originally planted by the Romans but fell into disrepair and neglect until the 17th and 18th Century. The total area of Pomerol is only 800 hectares. This wine is plummy and very earthy and so enjoyable. My notes said “This is why one loves Pomerol “.

Underwhelming atm, but will improve in time— weird spot for now

This wine is shaping up very nicely. If you have some, wait another 10 years for optimum return.

Wow. This wine is frikkin stunning. Graphite, cherry, tobacco and leather with fantastic acidity and forest floor lingering for ages. Phenomenal.

A textbook color of ruby red. Terroir driven for sure, the nose is a plume of earth and pure red fruits. The palate has a gentle femininity to it, beautifully elegant and classy. The tannins are smooth as silk, the finish a persistent echo of the terroir.

A bit bretty on the nose but the big vintage starting to soften nicely on the palate.

Not my preferred kind of wine anymore but I recognize the high quality. And enjoyed it!
