Kathleen Ward of Acumen Winery shared this beauty in honor of Denis Malbec. Clos du Marquis is the second label of Château Léoville-Las Cases next to Chateau Latour in Paulliac. (Juillac tributary separating its vineyards from those of Château Latour in Pauillac.)

Always reliable and my favorite 2nd label. Very approachable right now, not nearly as brooding as other vintages I've had.

Yes. Everything you would expect from this. Im drinking younger than I normally would but this is very full and has softened well in 8 years. Wonderful on the nose with caramel and vanillas. A few more years and this could be 9.5+.

Very good. Smooth and not to round. Good with dinner and cheese in Paris.

Top value St Julien @ £37 paid that's drinking well now to next 10yrs 👍 could do w/ a few more yrs to soften sweetness 😉

🍇 75% Cab S, 17% Mer & 8% Cab F

🍷 Opaque deep ruby w/ purple tint

👃 Warming blackcurrant & dark plum through soft oak w/ sweet blueberry, dark cherry, raspberry liquorice & earth

👄 Med body of cocoa covered sweet blackcurrant in fine dry tannins w/ a sweet liquorice, blueberry, dark plum & cherry kick

🎯 Med sweet black/black currant, plum, creamy cherry & liquorice touch dry

Light currant notes, but generally lacking fruit. Thin and drying. Maybe bretty.
