Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend

Thanks @Jim Westby for packing this claret for our trip to Yosemite. We grilled up Fred Steak to pair with it, and this powerful, virile '93 had the power and cut for the rich, flavor y tri-tip. This wine has so much going for it- you have to wonder if they added some of another more famous vintage!

Easily the best 93 bdx I've ever tasted!

17/20 (92/100) Вино с развитым букетом ароматов ягод чёрной смородины, старого черничного варенья, шоколада, кожи, лакрицы и ментола. Довольно тельное с высокой кислотностью и мягкими, бархатистыми танинами. Вкус немного отстаёт от аромата в насыщенности, послевкусие не назовёшь продолжительным. Тем не менее, отличное вино, особенно если учесть, что винтаж был не самым удачным для Бордо.

1993 Las Cases simply is a great wine from this vintage - had it a few times now and it always performs.

Big wine from a year which normally is not highly rated.

Unexpected...this wine was gorgeous from start to finish and likely has another 5 years ahead of it before it starts heading downhill.

This was a surprise. A super second but could easily be a first growth this wine was under rated by critics. Silky almost sweet tannins dominant this wine packet with classic flavors and unreal depth. For a 23 year old wine this was a baby.

Very light and smooth; typical of bordeaux. Light red fruit (strawberry?) and some vegetable notes

It was perfect with nice steak. I like the 12.5% alcohol. It aged very well.

Textbook mature Bordeaux. Happy birthday Val O'Shea.
