Fabulous wine. Plums and berries, earth. Fairly complex tannins and long finish. I really, really enjoyed this bottle and for $16 I got another 3. It has been a while drank such an excellent Bordeaux in this price range. I will keep the bottles for another year max but this is ready to drink now!

Haven't tried it yet - $14. Doing some studying for our July trip to Bordeaux.

Had a nice nose of fleshy plum, dry earth, and blackberries for a second, but then turned flat. Just a mediocre wine after that.

Dinner under the stars brought this guilty pleasure. A favorite restaurateur surprised me with this pick. It's not that the wine isn't impeccable (it is!)--but its producers are infamous for turning out horrible "gas station" wine! :/ Seems inexplicable that this exceptional full-bodied Bordeaux would be produced by the famille Castel--maybe it's what they drink themselves? So well rounded, thick, and balanced with gripping tannins and black fruit...I need to find out which gas station Henri found this at. :D

Blackberries, figs, dark chocolate, fennel, vanilla, leather. Would have liked more on the finish. Definitely decant, otherwise pretty harsh tannins at first :-) definitely not after.
For the price it's good. Characteristics of Merlot are coming out after letting it sit.
