Chateau Montelena
Calistoga Cabernet Franc

Probably better a couple years ago but still a nice wine. For some reason I was taken by this while visiting the vineyard a decade or so ago and bought some. Great restrained fruit, quite balanced, just a hint of green pepper, soft tannins.

Bought this on a bit of a lark many years ago while visiting the chateau in Napa. Forgot about it and recently pulled from storage. Might have been in its prime a couple years ago but still quite nice. Somewhat restrained for Napa at 13.8%. Quite full bodied, some green notes, pretty tasty. Nice with corned beef for St Patrick’s Day.
