Quite brawny and bloody in the nose with a hint of band aid. Iodine and plum. Very dense and savory. Herbs. Very good. Young. From mag.

Medium garnet red. Lovely nose with layers of perfume, damp leaves, leather, tobacco and dried cherries. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Tons of dried red cherries on the palate mixed in with leather, damp forest floor and mushrooms. Long and lingering finish, that still has quite a bit of acidity on the back end. Drink till 2038.

Classy and intense blackcurrant, cassis and rich plum fruit, mint, wet tobacco leaf, new cigar box, dried meat, wild violets and graphite but fruit forward and quite young, good intensity. Palate is again dominated by a refreshing acidity, fruit leans towards red rather than black berry and there is a slight char that cuts through the end of the finish.

Wine was very tight for 35 minutes after decanting. As it opened it exploded with depth and complexity... Blackcurrant, ripe plum. Cassis to light licorice, leather and hint of eucalyptus. This wine needs more time. Not nearly as elegant ad the '95.. But it evolving.

In fantastic shape and drinking very well, the wine was a layered, seamless, classic Claret with a youthful dark ruby-red core. The palate has entered some textural maturity with a svelte medium to full body. The finish sailed on perfectly with time and flavor intersecting at the finish well near a minute.
