We'll see how this develops but excluding 1st growths, this might be a candidate for wine of the vintage. Special!!!

Vertical tasting of 2008-2015. Fascinating to taste these side by side. 15 had a gorgeous nose, but it’s palate was shut down. I loved the finesse of the ‘14 and the 08 had a lovely herbal nose. All of these need much more time in the bottle, but after some long decants you can’t go too wrong

Had a wine tasting at Pichon Baron. This is considered to be a “ super” 2nd grand cru, and it’s amazing. Medium to full bodied. Royal burgundy colour. Big expression of dark fruits (plums, cherries) and wild berries (blackberry, blueberry). It was excellently balanced with soft spices and liquorice, leaving a very smooth, prolonged after taste. Wish I had more and a steak to go along with this. It isn’t cheap, $285 euro for a bottle. Enjoyed this much more than the Mouton Rothschild tasting we had earlier in the day. Edit, after trying more wines from the Bordeaux Region, this deserves an increased rating.

Wow this will be a fun competition between the 2015 and 2016. Which one will be better? This pair is worlds apart from the twins of 1989 and 1990!
