Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
The 2015 Pichon Lalande has a sophisticated bouquet of blackberry, pencil shavings, black pepper and discreet touches of wild mint, all beautifully defined and focused. There is some quality Cabernet here. The palate is medium-bodied with
fine-grained tannin, superb acidity, gentle grip and satisfying tension toward the fresh, vivid finish. One of the best Pauillacs of 2015, this is a magnificent wine from Nicolas Glumineau and his team. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2019)

Oozes quality. Pencils shavings and fresh cedary oak is present but the fruit is up to the task. Medium plus, fresh acidity and medium plus chewy but not resolute tannins give the wine it’s shape, paving the way for long finish

1 person found it helpfulJun 7th, 2018The 1938 Pichon-Lalande is one of only two Clarets that I have tasted from this forgotten vintage, the other being Rauzan-Ségla. Presumably from a similar source, this had a frail, antique shop bouquet with nary a fruit in sight. The palate is balanced and dusty, a little hollow but nothing offensive. It is simply long past its sell-by date. Tasted at a private dinner in London. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2018)

1 person found it helpfulMay 24th, 2018The 2014 Pichon Lalande has the edge over Pichon Baron a few months ago. It is a tight race but here Pichon Lalande edges it. It has a wonderful, complex, intense bouquet with blackberry, briary, graphite and mint – just a straight-down-the-line Pauillac with all the aristocratic flair you look for. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, layers of pure black fruit laced with graphite and mint. It is blessed with a satin-like texture, not a hair out of place from start to finish, with a long, persistent aftertaste that completes a fabulous wine for the vintage. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2018)

In the glass, the 1982 is powerful and explosive, with seemingly endless layers of flavor that continue to unfurl over time. Vivid, intensely aromatic and seamless, the 1982 has enough pedigree and depth to drink well for at least several decades. What a wine! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017)
