In a night of producer vintage comparison, the 97 showed dark fruits and earth. The 03 Pontensac showed bright fruits, cherries, strawberry, blackberry, dark cherry, hint of leather, saw dust and elegance without much earth making a interesting contrast. Both extreme valves for a quality Bordeaux wine. At under $30 for either wine, great pleasure and value. Buy and drink now with a steak.

Sadly showing age. Fruit drying out and structure simply not holding up.

A lovely surprise from the warm fruit forward Bordeaux 2003 vintage. This wine seems so young at the age of 12, while many of the 2003 are reaching their peak. Deep dark garnet color, aromas are reserved with coffee, tobacco, cigar box, black current, tea leaves and cedar wood, full body with tight dry tannins that open up slowly, needs time, amazing acidity for such a warm vintage, and a long chewy delicious finish. I almost felt it is too early to enjoy this one. My score 90, drink to 2026

Beautiful bottle of wine. Smooth, fully developed, strong tannins...still has aging potential. Will drink next bottle in 5 years.

Really nice surprise here, and needed a long decant to open up despite 15 years of sleep! Assertive and rich while avoiding any sharp edges, long finish. Unclear this will get better, but matched up nicely with rare filet. I’d decant for an hour and drink up.
