There’s really pleasant rhubarb and spice. You get hints that this is definitely not a heavyweight bruiser of a wine early on. Just a faint whiff of new leather and vanilla. As time passes, it grows a bit with more dark fruits coming to play and a nice core of greenery.
Pro-tip: buy second label wines. They’re so much fun and far easier to acquire. This fun Right Bank baby has elegance and complexity for days. Mostly Merlot with a chunk of Cabernet Franc, it’s incredibly smooth but still thrilling. Still so youthful and fresh, it has years to go. The fruit on the palate is dark and brooding but alive. The finish is long with a touch of cinnamon and spice and everything nice. Stellar stuff.
