Yesterday’s Wednesday Wine Committee lunch. Normal format of 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind.
Birth year Sauternes. Classic profile. Honey roasted cashews and orange marmalade aromatics. Rich and sweet notes of apricot and peach on the palate. Powerful yet not overbearing. I called this mid ‘90s Rieussec.

Nov 7th, 2019Developed and now drinking at its best since I last tried it. It has very good body and length and balance. Raisin, honey, sweet citrus and zesty notes on the nose with raisin, dried fruits (apricot, peach etc.), straw, syrup and marmalade on the palate. Very excellent.

Sep 15th, 2019This was really great. Candied nuts coated in honey with floral aromas, still excellent acidity and balance.

May 23rd, 2019Great vintage, great value (Raymond Lafon in general is underrated methinks), drinking perfectly now. Run don't walk!
