Chimney Rock
Tomahawk Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Third of the blind red wines at this quarter's S&E Wine Club, which for red was either Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc or Merlot from either Rutherford or Stags Leap District. Thanks Dave and Jenna!
Dark ruby core with garnet edges. Candied cherries on the nose with dark cocoa and a touch stinky. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with dark berries, spices, bramble berries and black cherries. Long and lingering finish. A bit stern even with a four and a half hour decant. Drink till 2027.

Love the complexity and concentration on this one. Intense nose of charred raspberries, vanilla, dirt, and spice. Medium body with reduced red fruits, vanilla, and dark molasses. Needed a ton of air, and has a long life ahead.

Jan 16th, 2016A nicely balanced 100% cabernet sauvignon from Stags Leap district of Napa. This one could stand a few more years in the bottle, but we were still very pleased with the lush fruit and deep color. We gave it a good 45 minutes to open up.
