The 1998 Clos de l’Oratoire showed quite well, mostly tertiary and secondary at this stage, there was still plenty of sumptuous red fruits, along with mocha powder notes, sweet spices and a hint of mature leather and fall leaves. Drinking great now, it’s in such a good place if you have any to try. This was for sure an ode to Saint-Emilion before the modernists leanings of the 00s came along.
