15’ Clos des Papes - Châteauneuf-du-Pape. WNH virtual tasting.
We through this into a decanter just short of 4 hours.
Strawberry jam, violets & potpourri stand out on the nose. Black cherry, rosemary, Asian spice. Medium-bodied with fine grained tannins(no bitterness) that will continue to develop over the next decade.

Edit- As the wine continues to open up, truly balances out that much more. Silky smooth textures & lingering for well over a minute. Just a gorgeous wine.

Can’t wait to try this again in 5-10-15 years.

Over three years since I opened up the first bottle. Still young-ish but much easier to drink after a quick decant of half an hour. All the typical scents and taste of C9DP. Very balanced. Clearly from a warm climate but retaining ample freshness. Like it a lot. Hope I can keep my hands off it in the coming years to check in on the remaining bottles every couple of years

This is a beautiful wine. Ethereal fruit, depth, finish. It’s just great.
