At the Clos Mogador tasting at the winery yesterday. This is the flagship - a blend of 45% Garnatxa, 29% Carinyena, 16% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Red and blue fruits, also red and blue florals. Full bodied and again 15% ABV. Persistent tannins. The more I drink Priorat the more it reminds me of CdP with influences of garrigue ie lavender, thyme, rosemary etc which grow in isolated patches amongst the vineyards when we drove around. Our host, Josip, said he likes to drink this Cuvée at 8 to 15 years but he went on to say that Rene Barbier’s father liked to drink at 20+ years as the wine becomes more silky and develops more liquorice notes. I bought a bottle of the 2004 from their cellar to take home.
