Domaine de l'Ecu (Guy Bossard)
Granite Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Melon de Bourgogne
Very balanced Melon from Loire. Aromas of crush rock, musk, floral notes, and lychee. Very nice acidity and crisp finish.

May 18th, 2015First bottle in 2015 was excellent. Heard Muscadet ages well, so held this in excellent storage conditions for 9 years. Oxidized. Drinkable, but not enjoyable. CT drinking window goes out to 2035, but several others have noted an oxidative experience as well.

Jul 23rd, 2024Pop and pour on day one and this was killer. Day two was more uninspiring so it was disappointing for the wine being only five years old.

Jul 27th, 2015Very fruity and herbaceous Muscadet. And very interesting for just those reasons.

Jan 18th, 20152012, Domaine de L'Ecu, Granit, Muscadet Sevre & Maine. I really like Muscadet and this one is very good. Drinks like a Chablis: a little tart apple, tons of acid and amazing minerality. Too bad it didn't sell in the shop.

Nov 27th, 2014Under Guy Bossard, Domaine de l'Ecu has held its place in the top echelon of Muscadet estates. Bossard vinifies and bottles based on sub-soil (Gneiss, Orthogneiss, and Granite). The wines are aged for 15-18 months on the lees, resulting in a textured, layered complexity that has come to define the unique style of the domaine.
