Les Champans Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Solid Volnay style .. Tough year and it shows. Muted fruit and limited depth. The 97' showed mature red/black raspberry but a limited finish. Hoped for more, I think it may just be past it's prime.

What a fantastic way to start our anniversary dinner at Ernas Elderberry House! A trip down memory lane to our time in Burgundy where we visited Domaine du Montille!

Bright red fruit nicely balanced with a little acid 1999 1er Cru Volnay. Decanted for an hour in altitude. Very nice.

Décevant, maigre, de l'élevage

Aroma filled the room. On palate Light, elegant, floral. Lacking some weight, which is fine with me, but really came alive with food. Pairing with burrata was amazing.
