Pale, translucent ruby in the glass with muted aromas of red cherry and no discernible influence of new oak. Balanced and medium bodied with tart cherry and cranberry fruit on the palate. Velvety texture with substantial tannic grip and only 12.5% alcohol. Farmed biodynamically and vinified with 33% whole clusters with only 20% new barrels used. This premier cru vineyard is named after the property's owner in the 18th century Renaud de Sessie and is a nice introduction to the domaine’s elegant style. Paired well with a brunch of steak and eggs.

May 14th, 20182012 vintage. Very youthful and primary - red fruit, with hints of smoke, tan leather and Earth. On the palate, initially a touch astringent, especially on the mid palate. With an hour in the glass, rounder and softer, even with a silkiness and a coffee bean reductiveness that is extremely appealing. There's an elegance to the wine which makes it a crowd pleaser. Decent.
