Tighter than my previous bottle and needed a solid 45–60 minutes to really come alive, but once it did the wine was beautiful: dark cherry, a hint of licorice, florals and tremendous purity. The palate is velvety, sweet, haunting and ethereal, but still carries the amplitude, richness and density of a great 2018, with that distinctive Clos des Chênes sweetness and depth. Brilliant now, but I would still give it another three or four years if I had more bottles.

Mint, bramble and cherry on the nose. Stony, fruity, tart and juicy palate; some chestnut and pastry dough. Sapid, complex and full of pleasure.

Just a heavenly perfume. So classic and old school and so clos Des chenes. Sappy mid season cherries as well. What a palate, amazing inner mouth aromas, such finesse, sweet and concentrated blackberry and black cherry fruit. Fine grained tannins. So elating. Long finish with permanent staining blackberry sap and juiciness. Really incredible balance for such a large framed wine that is also so delicate. What tannins. So fine. So detailed. There is such freshness here. Perfect marriage of 18 and Buffet style. Amazing raw materials here and sweetness of fruit. So so elegant. So young and so deep. This is a 25 year wine easy. Will be back once it airs. Spectacular.
