Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
L'Hermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne
Day 3 in San Antonio (3 weeks ago, I’m just catching up) and @Shawn R opened his home for some Texas BBQ and kicked things off with a kick ass Chave blanc. High viscosity, seductively textured and chock full of honeyed lemon, wax and matchstick flavors with bright acidity and impressive length.

Dec 1st, 2018WNH event number two. Rhône varietal wines with TX BBQ...a match made in Heaven!
Never in my life have I had a wine like this. There is so much lemon/lemongrass, hint of orange blossom, and an electric honeyed pineapple finish. Incredibly unique and so young...could be a monster in 3-5yrs. Wonderful bottle from @Shawn R .

Jul 2nd, 2018Needed 3 hours in the decanter to blossom. Haunting nose of beeswax, pear skin, tangerine, minerals and nutmeg. Palate is layered with pear, peach, tangerine and apple fruit over mineral notes. This a wine all about texture. Finish is full of citrus and stones. This is so young but immensely enjoyable with air. Next bottle to be cellared for 3 to 5 years..

Mar 7th, 20182009 vintage. At Madeo, Beverly Hills CA. Medium golden hue. On the nose, high intensity of white flower, lemongrass, wet rock minerality, honey and honey due melon. There's some sweet spices and chalkiness here. Extremely complex. On the palate, high alcohol - although not hot. Full body - quite thick yet not heavy. Very concentrated and super long finish with some real power. There's an impression of sweetness without being sweet. One of the best white Hermitage's I have had, alongside the 1999 Chave Blanc. This could be better than the '99! Drink now until 2027+. 97 points.
