For under $15, this Corsican gem is terrific! 30% Nielluccio (Sangiovese clone?), 30% Grenache, 15% Sciaccarellu, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Carignan. Dusty tannins and surprising acidity with deep red and blue fruit, leather, and game. In fact, one of the best wines I've ever had in this price range! Imported by Kermit Lynch.

May 3rd, 2014Well this is such a cool wine. First things first, check out this blend: 30% Niellucciu 30% Grenache 15% Sciaccarellu 15% Syrah 5% Mourvèdre 5% Carignan. Plus the kitchen sink! An absolutely luscious nose with earthy notes on top. Grass and underbrush but then the vivid fruits begin their attack. Wild strawberries, cherry pie, and is that…cotton candy? In the good way. Blackberry and crushed herbs along with violets and light smoke. Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
Tasted blind, no doubt I would have assumed Nebbiolo or a fun Rhône blend. But this is it’s own terrific thing from Corsica. Light alcohol at 12.5 and such easy drinking. But not frivolous. It has so much character and personality and definitely sticks out in a crowd. Pure delight in the mouth. The fruits are alive and the acidity lively yet relaxing. Go get this.

Jul 24th, 2022Tangy, earthy aromatics. Light weight robe, dense dark core. Sweet red, purple, blue hues drip sour rustic tannins. Great balance. Great w/ slow cook lamb and spinach risotto.
