Domaine aux Moines - Roche aux Moines Savennières Chenin Blanc

Dark gold. Interesting but over the hill. Reminiscent of orange wine.

Beautiful and finessed with plenty of botrytis on the nose, notes of dried apricot, pineapple, ginger and spices

Drinking well. Great with delicate complex seafood dishes

This is one of those you don't forget. Amazing nuttyness, depth and texture. Still some lively fruit in the many layers this wine has to offer. Not for everyone though.

Saline, flint and weight

I always expect 15 year old Chenin to show this this way - creme brûlée, toasted almond. Nice. Not a 'twiggy' wine.

Strips the enamel off yo' teeth --- in a good way!

This was either entering a dumb phase or already past full maturity. Acid driven and minerally, but otherwise closed off. Pleasantly oxidative and badly oxidized, all at once.

So fresh, so happy

complex oxidative chenin, pretty, dark-citrine color, fleeting copper and hazelnut flavors paraphrasing a full paragraph of amontillado sherry, great acid follow through - wonderful for sunset and not a bad cream sauce companion.
