Domaine Tempier
Bandol Rosé Blend
Bandol, Provence, France

Warm up & palate changer into Thanksgiving dinner. This remains one of my top three Rosés. Even better when you lay them down for 2-3 years. Never disappoints!

Limpid orange-pink. Vibrant, mineral-accented cherry pit, peach, raspberry and melon scents, along with building orange pith and floral nuances. Stains the palate with incisive red berry, citrus fruit and lavender flavors that deftly blend depth and liveliness. Shows superb tension and intense mineral character on the strikingly long finish, which leaves bitter quinine and blood orange notes behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2018)

Great starter, I preferred it on the cooler side.

Not your average “Jo-sé”. Bone dry, heavyweight at 14+ alc, intense. A huge guy. Buy it by the case.
Terrific with a 12 hours braised lamb shank+ herbes de Provence. Add some roasted apricots.

Magnum. Hands down the best rosé. Depthful, rich, good acid. 2016 Cru on Nantucket has a very impressive large format, special release rosé list.

Solid as always. Seemed a little more open then previous vintages. No reduction. Had the nose, medium weight and cut you’d expect. I think an above average vintage for this wine, although always reliable.

Looks like the Warriors are going down 3-1. Shame on us for celebrating with Champange early.
At least we are on to the gold standard of Bandol Rosé. Cheers to Durant playing the rest of the series.
2016 is offering so much more with two plus years in bottle.
