Domaine Trapet Père & Fils
Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir
Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Medium dark rubi robe, no fading, actually looks like at least 10 years younger. Nose of flowers and anise, blackcurrant in the end. Oh so rich and so good in the mouth. Getting better after 20 minutes of uncorking. Tonight it’s a hair better than the RSV we tasted just before. Great stuff.

Aug 19th, 2026So as Elizabeth says, the aromatics hit you over the head; more realistically it jumped from the glass. A fully mature grand cru that takes center stage and announces its arrival with fan fair, music, and the spectacle. Yes, it’s all that and more! Soft and supple, with elegance, beauty and style. Definitely at its peak. Served after a 1.5 hour decant. Could it go longer? Sure, but why wait? What is the next special occasion to open the last bottle? Please something soon!!!

Aug 30th, 2020A very dense, rich but restrained, mineral, packed with polished tannins Chambertin. Very long in the mouth, starting to develop secondary aromas and tastes. A great vintage in a less demonstrative style for this wine. I have to say I like very much the wine !!! My guess is another 5 years to get to a more open register. If you drink it before I suggest decanting 30 minutes before.

Apr 16th, 2018Sleek texture, very refined, but the oak was a bit more intense than I prefer. However, that is a minor complaint
