Ehlers Estate
St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon
Very classic Napa Cab that flies down the middle. The bouquet was ripe raspberries and blackberries, small note of currant and cedar. Front palate was incredibly soft and retained nice acidity...crushed blackberries, graphite, strawberry skin, and smoke. However, the middle and end on the palate felt a bit flat. Decanting improved it a small bit, but it lost weight after entry and the structure wavered. Lower in ABV than many Napa cabs, so maybe that threw me off. It still had a great balance of red and black fruits, hibiscus, and dark chocolate covered plum. Textbook 2014 in terms of accessibility and plush nature.
