Evening Land Vineyards
Occidental Vineyard Pinot Noir
This is third and final bottle I have of this, and it is finally coming around. Still a bit too oaky for my taste but beautiful sappy black cherry and earth character is emerging. Bit of graham cracker too. I would have liked a bit more of a lively feel.

Nov 23rd, 2017Nose of ripe berries, vibrant herbs, cedar ,cinnamon, and honey like sweetness with a touch of mocha. Taste of grapefruit, berry sweetness, spice, and round acidity, It is denser than most Pinot. Aftertaste of zest, a touch of soy bean sauce, strawberry, and medium finish. A jammy Pinot compared to most other Sonoma coast product. Had a 2nd bottle about 4 months later. Still feel it's good and consistent. I realized I didn't put the mushroom note and aftertaste of soy bean sauce last time.

1 person found it helpfulJan 22nd, 2016NIGHT 1: Way too oaky. Beyond the oak, nose has cherry cola, baking spice and warm moss. Lots of raw oak in the mouth overwhelms the nice, rather extracted PN fruit. Some bitterness in the finish. Might be better tomorrow night. We'll see.
NIGHT 2: Oak better integrated. Nice cherry fruit and some underlying earthy gravel. Softer, more focused, and better overall. Upping to 9.0, on the condition that this is given plenty of air time.

Mar 3rd, 2021Really good. Shows its origin. Tannins are resolved. Quite seamless and harmonious. The melange of flavors here are so integrated that it is hard to separate them. Well done!

May 9th, 2016Evening Land is one of my favorite wine makers. However, this particular bottle was very tight and failed to open with time. I will keep its cohorts in the cellar for a few more years and revisit it with the hope that it will mature into the wine I expected it to be.

Apr 25th, 2016Solid Pinot. Nice minerality with layers of red and black berries. Fantastically smooth in the second day. I was stunned.
