Forlorn Hope
Mataro
From the Rorick Vineyard in Cavaleros County (one of the counties in Sierra Foothills that has no AVA). Transparent ruby turning orange at the rim. Fresh Provence herbs in the nose. Medium-bodied, high acidity, more elegance than power, present but well-integrated tannin. Good length. Could do with a bit more concentration though to be truly great.

Nov 5th, 2016The oak is a little separate from the wine, with a noticeable caramel pop to it. Elegant and silky in texture, the fruit is plum and blueberry. I know this ages in used oak, but I was surprised how much oak. Some time should integrate this better, so wait another 6 months.
