Seems odd to call a wine versatile, but this is a red that's light enough to chill and drink by the pool but sturdy enough to stand up to heartier meals. Of course, works just fine on its own too. Well balanced tannins with red berry flavors. Wish the finish lingered a bit longer, but at 12-13 a bottle this is a QPR steal.

Black pepper, some cherry. Definitely opens up after a while. Great balanced tannins, super smooth. Pairs really well with beef and heavy food, but also drinks well on its own.

All the great personality of Piedmont. The juiciness of barbera, the dark fruit of dolcetto and the tannin of nebbiolo. One of the best wines out there under $17, no doubt.
