Top Notes For
The first of my exploration of the Great Wall series of wines. This is flagship of Chinese wines or the Gallo of Chinese wines.
The cork was pretty tight. Strong medicine smell from the nose. Light ruby color.
Apricot scent from the glass, not too strong though. Very light scent.
Woody earthy taste and a light finish. Pretty dry yet not distasteful. I've definitely had worse (the Alzare Il Gomito Red Blend come to mind). This isn't too bad for a 42 RMB bottle of wine. Low expectations for sure but it's drinkable and if a guest hasn't seen the lable could be mistaken for a Rossi or Gallo though not as sweet.
