46 year old Sonoma Pinot Noir! This is a great example of why Hanzell is a top notch producer. The fruit was still present in it cherry and strawberry ripeness was a little candied/stewed, slight savory herb notes. What was really impressive was the texture of this wine on the palate. Still holding its balance pretty well there were some impressive tannins left in the mouth suggesting they weren't destemming back in the 60's and 70's... Very good and very thought provoking wine.
