Lovely bright mid gold with a fleck of green. Nose fresh and lifted, clean as a whistle (no Kero) pithy citrus. The palate is alive. Gripping fine acid keeps you coming back to the glass. Not overly complex but beautifully balanced. This bottle still has time in its legs.

My last bottle of this fabulous Riesling from the Great Southern district of Western Australia. See previous Delectable note. White Florals with Lemon and Lime. A faint hint of Petro Chemical. On the palate a delicious nuance of ripe pear with cleansing citric acid. A beautiful dry Riesling drinking at its peak but could hold for a few more years. Bert Werden, the editor of Winestate said “close to perfection “.

Oct 10th, 2022Aromatics of Talc, white flowers a little peach and grapefruit. On the palate citrus and peach with diminishing acid. Just a fabulous mature Riesling with just a hint of petro chemical developing in the form of paraffin. It stamps the Great Southern in Western Australia as one of the premium Riesling districts in Australia. One of the 1001 wines and deserves to be. James Halliday wrote “year in, year out, one of Australia’s best Rieslings”.

Aug 7th, 2021Very pale lemon. Notes of lime juice and bath talc. Remarkably youthful for 6 years of age with Limey acidity. This is a 20 year wine. Tasting again on 9th February 2018 with consistent notes. Citric acid rolls off the side of the tongue. Still a 20 year old Wine.
