Unbricked ruby. Freaking textbook nose of roses and spices, perfumed and delicate, sweet and inviting like a country maiden picking flowers. So, so Pinot. The palate is sweet, soft, inviting with pie cherries, macerated raspberries, cinnamon and a little wood spice. Good, not great, length. But exceedingly delicious. Wonderful, with a very light touch. (My wine.)

17. 1998. Nose not good - thought it might be just bottle stink, but it persisted after decanting. On palate, however, excellent fruit and balance, good but not great length. A few more left - we'll see.

18. 1998. This is what one wants from mature Burgundy. Still good fruit, but subtle, complex. A bit farmyardy, but no problem.
