Lack of depth — 3 months ago
Definitely had this as a lesser grand cru by process of elimination in our blind options, as without them I wouldn’t have had it in grand cru territory. This was so light in comparison with the NSG’s, especially the 19’ pair. It wasn’t exactly a bad thing though as I really enjoyed the energy of the wine.
Red-fruited and spicy aromas, along with hints of flowers and black tea. The palate was probably the juiciest of the lot, with a very silky feel, and lovely salinity. Drinking it side-by-side with the other burgs, this was more mineral than the Chevillon and MG, but didn’t quite have the intense minerality of the Grivot. Like the 12’ Chevillon, I felt it didn’t quite have the depth nor intensity of the 19’ pair. Wonder if vintage played a big factor in this observation. All said, I found this very elegant and better of the two 12’s. — 4 months ago
This was drinking well showing red cherry, dark berry fruit, savory spice, earth & violets — a day ago
Farm funk with bright cherry notes. Paired with tuna — 4 months ago
Broke out a big gun for the holiday. Succulent on the first taste from the bottle. Decanted and drank over 2+ hours. Almost no sediment. Striking color. Very deep red. Tons of mature fruit but still lively. Deep and long. Rounded mouthfeel and lingers wonderfully. It’s such a smooth but heady wine. Nicely fragrant. My first DRC. — 23 days ago
My continued quest to try as many 2022 Burgundies as possible.
My instincts on this one is it will require more cellaring than the previous other five 22’s.
The nose says, it is in a dumb phase. Not showing much. Muddled, brooding dark fruits, not very distinctive earth and withering dark flowers.
The palate fruits are nice. Juicy, ripe but again not one fruit stands out over all others. Dark cherries, ripe strawberries, some nice blackberries, plum, raspberries with the lightest blue fruit hues. Tannins here but far less pronounced than the previous five wines. Like the others, dusty, dry top soils, limestone powder, dry river stone, black tea, dark rich soil with dry leaves, dry twigs, 65% new oak here but you wouldn’t sense that high of use, so, barrel shavings, lightly grilled meats, dry tobacco & leather, very light baking spices, baking soda/powder, nice, dark spice-not overdone, dry herbs, moist, volcanic clay, withering to dry dark, red flowers, nice acidity with an nicely; balanced, elegant, well made finish that lasts two-minutes that run nice fruit to dry minerals.

A beauty! But too young and taking the pricetag into consideration…I would go for “cheaper” crus than an Echezeaux — 6 days ago
