Seeing the sun for the first time in weeks! This wine is making my day even brighter. A rich, deep ruby color with a complex nose. Dark fruit, herbs, lavender, chocolate. Flavors of sour plum, over ripe berries, crushed herbs, vanilla. Fairly tannic and still plenty youthful, this could age a good long while. I bought the last bottle at Binny's for $25, which i think was a great deal.

A fine CdR from a fine producer. This wine exhibits delicious dark fruit, leather, licorice, and a smattering of garrigue. Very soft, I'm enjoying swirling this around in my mouth. Poured myself a taste, but the rest will be had with venison backstrap tonight.

Great pull, @Dave, I just wish this CdR was more widely distributed in the U.S. (there is a second cuvée called something starting with an “S” that has a different proportion of G, S, and M grapes).

I love toads and I enjoy a good Paso cabernet from time to time. What could go wrong? This wine is heavy with over ripe fruit- blackberry, macerated strawberry, melon. Also a bit heavy handed on the oak, adding some cocoa, vanilla, and... oak. Just ok.

What made it bleh?? Was it too oak forward?

It was a bit oak heavy in my opinion. Fruit was ok and the wine is acceptable, just nothing noteworthy 🤷‍♂️

@Dave, today the price of admission is more $30-50 for Spatlese that can age, but you gotta hold it for some years.

I have so much to learn. I spent a few years learning Italian wines, the last 2 years were French. Maybe 2026 will be Germany! I just need to enroll in a language class to understand the labels. @Doug Powers @Peter van den Besselaar

No complaints here. Plum, herbs, tar, leaves. Cheap. I'll agree with the other reviewer who thought Wine Enthusiast was overly generous at 92 points. But, it's very ok.
