Jean-Marc Pillot
Les Vergers Clos Saint-Marc Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay
Pure and light. Lime and slate. Delicious and focused. Still quite tight. Lucid and punchy with salinity.

Apr 29th, 2024Lemon oil. Limestone. Perfumed but there are early signs of oxidation here that feel a bit out of kilter with its age. Stop tasty Drink up

Jan 13th, 2024This is in great shape. Some of the usual vim has settled and this is a beautifully balanced wine. Pear, white flowers, slate, green apple. Lovely acidity-really integrated. Complex, fresh and delicious. Great stuff

Jan 21st, 2023This is just delicious. Bright, complex and dazzling. Lemon, pear, white flowers. An intensity and lightness on the palate and real length and definition. Just superb right now.

Aug 9th, 2020A lifted, polished and seductive nose with white blossom, chalk, salinity, lemon oil. The palate is gorgeous- bright, resolved and really pretty. Hints of lime and rounded luscious fruit but all perfectly in place with a raveneau-like combination of lightness and intensity. I guess the knock would be it doesn’t have the length and power of the best grand cru white burgs, but this is a superb wine and has a good few years ahead-especially if it avoids premox.
