My parents bought this 2010 champagne duty free and we enjoyed it on their last lunch with us. We all loved it!
It’s a fairly deep golden yellow with plentiful fast streaming bubbles in the glass. It definitely smells like it has a bit of age on it. Hints or shortbread, citrus rind marmalade, toffee apples and fresh bread come through on the nose. While in the mouth it has a super smooth mouth feel and nice lengthy finish. More please!

I recently celebrated my 1 year anniversary as a #smallbusinessowner (and no it’s not a wine/blogging business, this girl has other skills 😜). Naturally I had to sabre the top off a #GrandCru champagne. It’d be rude not to when your business name is @grandcrudigital right?
Definitely an intentional business name decision right there 🍾🍾
We picked up this bottle of @champagnejeanmilan Symphorine 2010 Blanc de Blancs Brut at @aucklandairport duty free for about $100.
‘Grand Cru’ translates to ‘great growth’ and it’s a term used in #Champagne (and Burgundy) to distinguish the best vineyards.
And #BlancdeBlancs means it’s made of only white grapes. Which in this case is #Chardonnay.
It was the perfect tipple to celebrate my 1 year as a biz owner anniversary. I think we had it alongside a very un-classy bbq dinner 😂
In the glass I found it a lemon-lime colour. Immediately as soon as I sniffed it I got a lovely lemon zest scent, with hints of musk candies, floral perfumes, and spiced apple - a fantastically complex and interesting nose! While in the mouth it has tons of juicy acidity that made me think of lemon juice squeezed over apples with a side of cashew crackers and a refreshing finish. Yumo! I’d by this Grand Cru again - maybe for my 13 month anniversary 😉

Mr. Spittoon picked up this bottle of Champagne Jean Milan 2010 Symphorine Grand Cru for about $110 Duty Free. My husband sure does have good taste!
We both really enjoyed this Blanc de Blancs (aka White of Whites meaning it’s made from 100% Chardonnay) in the lead up to our holiday.
On the eye it’s a white to yellow ombré colour with plenty of bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the glass. Crunchy orchard fruit, toasted almonds, spice, vanilla custard and pastry dominate the nose for me. While in the mouth it’s elegantly structured with juicy fruit flavours and refreshing lemon acidity. It also has a lovely long silky finish.
