What a terrific cab! Still a dark brooding young wine (at 17)! Wonderfully long finish and still excellent grip. During this confinement at least the Jonathan Club prepared prime rib dinners for grab&go! We are so appreciative of everyone efforts especially the JC & Phelps!

03' Joseph Phelps Insignia 30th Anniversary Blend. A rather large production at 12,000 cases.
The color still has a dense purple & dark ruby. The blend is singing after a one hour decanting. Wow... this is a 2003? As I'm decanting this wine I can smell it from 2 feet away.
Dammit, the complexity of this nose is worth the price of admission. Still on the nose, plum, dried flowers.
Palate- Again this is a 2003. Complexity is the first thing that comes out of my mouth. A long with the subtleties of this beauty. Nothing is to pronounced . Blackberry, dark cherry, tobacco. Many other things in this blend. Simply one of the top five 2003 red blends. Finishes carries on for 20/30 seconds. Recommend highly.

@Mark Quezada Thank you so much. This was in perfect shape. Sooooo dense and jammy fruited, tons of coffee and chocolate character w some minty qualities and forest floor. So damn good!

Black currants, black plum, blueberries, boysenberries, black raspberries, black licorice, black tea, spice-box, touch of sweet tar, dark liqueur, dried flowers, gritty dark minerals, leather, cinnamon, vanilla, loamy soil, nice acidity and long dark fruit finish. The 03 did not start well but after 3 plus hours in the decanter it really began to shine. If you have the 03, hold it another 5-8 years. Nice that it opened up after a three week "Tour de France." Love French wines but it's always good to come home! 30th Anniversary Phelps Insignia. Lastly, not a good pair with the steak. Angular with the steak and tore my palate in very wrong directions. Amazingly good all by itself!

Stewed fruit, orange rind, bitter chocolate, black truffles...losing fruit but elegant. Higher alcohol come through in vintage & structure. Character: Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.
