I have always wanted to try this guys wines. Very eccentric in his release philosophy, current vintage of the chard is 1999. On this night I got to try 3 different '95s. By far the best of the bunch was the Charles Heintz vineyard which had matured into something unrecognizable in CA chard. Great experience.

Terry Leighton is the winemaker and is quite an interesting character. Terry marches to his own drum when it comes to making and releasing his wines.His 95 Chardonnay is his current release. How many wine producers are willing to hold their wines and forgo revenue until they believe they are truly ready to enjoy?Almost none! Terry does not filter his Chardonnay. The 95 is; macerated apples, pear, quince, a touch of ripe pineapple and has just a hint of a raisinated quality. Rich lush mouthfeel, nice balance and near perfect acidity.

Absolutely amazing that this wine drinking so nice right now. It's 20 years old and has great fruit and vibrancy. The color is this radiant green/yellow with just a hint of funky/cheesey dankness to the nose suggest some age. However, it's so fresh still with the buttery creamy notes that have transformed and blended perfectly into the baked apple.

1995 Vintage. Kalin Cellars in the Livermore Valley ages their wine at the estate until the deem it to be at its perfect maturity. This 20 year old Chardonnay is their current release and it is lush, yet refreshing. Slight oxidative qualities, but still so fresh.

Great interpretation of California Chardonnay. Although, rich and round it possesses great acidity and length. Surprisingly it still has several years to go.
